EVERY Novacom-Adjacent Episode, From “The Turning Point” to “Exit” and Beyond

I’ve now been a hardcore AIO fan for the better part of a decade. Throughout that time, I’ve always kept one statement consistent. I love the Novacom Saga. The intricacies, the setup, and every nuance of Adventures in Odyssey that were incorporated into its production make the series better than many TV shows available today. So much do I enjoy exploring this that several years ago, I took it upon myself to put together the first major written series on the AWB site that explained the full scope of the Novacom saga. I started by explaining that related episodes spanned all the way back into seemingly unrelated territory. Foundational episodes such as The Turning Point lay the groundwork for exposition relating to Eugene’s collegiate research, while Connie and Mitch’s lengthy relationship arc and the introduction of characters like the Washington family shone a spotlight on the fallout. The domino effect of these spanned all the way until the second major Adventures in Odyssey hiatus in 2009. I recently wanted to go and listen to the Novacom saga, but I wanted to do it right this time, not just go through the multi-episode album. I then thought it would be enjoyable for all of AWB’s readers to have a go-to list of the full scope of the arc, complete with Club links, as always. So without further ado, here is every Novacom-related episode. Every episode listed is only about one deviation or less from the main plot, for conciseness. This list more than doubles the official pack of 28 episodes to approximately 67.

Act 1: The Setup

The three major arcs that run alongside Novacom involve Eugene, Aubrey, and the relationship between Connie and Mitch. In terms of the fallout, the introduction of the Washingtons comes later. “The Turning Point” and “To Whom the Wedding Bells Toll” mention grants to Campbell College in a way that is directly tied to the opening acts of Novacom. These are episodes where I was willing to bend the rules a little bit. More relevant episodes, such as “You Win Some, You Lose Some” and “The Long Way Home” give us a framework for the mindset of all the players going into the Novacom arc. I didn’t initially mean to include “Best Laid Plans” in this list. However, it occurred to me that the establishment of Odyssey’s geography was a huge factor in the Novacom series. Boroughs such as Oswald Heights are introduced in Malachi’s Message, with the unrest and tension there further established in Best Laid Plans. Connellsville and Odenton are key Novacom elements as well. The effects of events on the families of the Hortons and the DeWhites are minor arcs post-Novacom; however, not many of their episodes fall within that one-deviation range, as I see it. We will begin with the short list of relevant setup episodes, then move into the bulk of what remains.

Act 2: The Main Story

Episodes indicated with a (*) are not officially listed as a part of the arc, but are directly a part of the flow of the Novacom story (zero deviation). From this point forward, particularly in the aftermath section, episodes relating to Eugene will be highlighted in orange, episodes relating to Aubrey in purple, and episodes relating to Connie and Mitch in teal. An officially listed Novacom episode such as Plan B, for example, contains multiple running storylines stimultaneously and will remain plantext.
