What We Want to See From AIO in 2025

On the AIO Writer’s Block social media pages, I posed the question of what fans wanted to see from AIO in the 2025 season. As a follow up, I’m looking at some of those responses and my thoughts on them in this article.

“More mysteries for sure! It’d be nice to hear from the Parker family, and Monty! And Dr. Graham 😅”

I sort of hated on AIO’s disposal (for lack of a better term) of the Parker family in a post back at the end of 2021. Looking at it now, though, I think I sort of appreciate Odyssey not making a huge deal out of the Parker departure. At this point, we know it’s coming; they’ve said it multiple times, but they’ve also shared their intent to keep it on the down low. I think this also opens doors for them to use characters when they wish. At this time, the two oldest Parker children are among the most prominent child characters in Odyssey history, with Olivia’s arc still continuing. But Camilla’s lost some of the spotlight, too. I won’t re-hash my point in that article; you can read it for yourself. I also think it would be excellent to hear back from Monty again, but I think it’s high time for Jenny to re-appear, too. We’ll see if any of this comes in the upcoming year!

“Rodney Rathbone Returns”

It’s clear from the comics that Evan David is probably grasping to do a Rodney return episode. I think it would be great! I would like to see the new kids (especially Jay) interact with a likely older Rodney. The opportunities are endless here!

“I’d love to see stuff about Wooton’s family, and maybe a Katrina-centric episode in Baltimore!”

I would too! It looks like we’ll be seeing a lot of Wooton’s family and its new dynamic here soon. This was very much teased at by this new album. It’s also pivotal to Wooton’s character development and continues a twenty-year long arc, which is why we’ll be doing a post about it in our new series in the month of September. I think a Baltimore-themed episode would be fantastic and probably hilarious, there are a lot of ways it could go. Katrina has sort of slipped out of the limelight over the past few decades as well, so it’s high time some good episodes with her returned.

“A love interest for Connie ❤️”

Now, if my name were Phil Lollar, my response would probably be a firm “no”. As I’m not though, I’m halfway to wanting to see a new love story plot for Connie. For one thing, I would like to see Jules’ and Buck’s arc fully wrapped up before we start diving into a new thing. On another note, there are simply too many other storylines going on right now. Not that I don’t think Odyssey could handle it, but it’d be nice to see this era firmly concluded before we move into the next thing. Above all this, I would love to see Connie working out a relationship with Jules sort of cheering her on as a new Christian, a dynamic I think would be so much more fulfilling than Connie not being emotionally available for Jules while this whole band situation is going on.

An exploration of Connie and Jillian’s new dynamic since [28] Hours. Especially in regards to Jules.

Continuing from earlier, this is another one of those storylines I’d like to see fully developed before the “Connie gets married” arc. Again, Facing the Music is probably 100% set up for this and I believe we’ll see the fullness by next year and maybe? even in December. These three have the potential to be an amazing trio, so their storylines tying together is hopeful.

Now, what about me?

Mostly, I want to see a definitive end to all the loose ends Era Five has left us with. It looks like the writers are definitely moving in this direction, too. Talks of wrapping up years-long sagas involving Jules, Penny, Wooton, and even Jay are all very good signs. One of the thoughts I had at the end of Facing the Music was “where’s Valerie in all this?”. It looks like we’re getting an answer here soon. The writer’s are also hinting that the next two albums will be very huge, which I believe and am totally on par with. I also don’t think it’s premature to say we’re probably close to another hiatus here soon, which would definitely be a definitive stopping point to this era. In any case, I’m ready for whatever the writer’s have planned for this upcoming season, but if any of you out there want to slip this they’re way, I’m sure they won’t mind! (wink wink) I’ll be back in a day or two with the start of our new series. For now, be sure to keep up the fandom!

See ya!

Great post as always Don! A love interest for Connie, highly unlikely, but it would be cool.

I wish Matthew & Emily solved more cases together. Yea, Monty, all the way! Dr. Graham, sure!

I honestly want Matthew to return. I still don’t appreciate him randomly being written outta the Rydell arc without warning.

As for 2025, I hope we finally receive more info on the movie and animated series coming up.

    1. Ah, I forgot to add the animated series! Yes, an update on that is definitely one of my expectations at this point.

  4. Great post!!! I would like to see the Parker family more. The Barclays, Washingtons, and Parkers all were a good example of Christian family dynamic and it’s frustrating that it’s not being represented right now. But it could just as well be replaced with a different family. Maybe more Jones-family-centric episodes? I am excited to see more of Penny and Wooton’s marriage journey. I agree, I believe that they should wrap up the issues between Jules and Buck/Jules and Connie before doing *anything* with Connie’s love life (as much as I like to joke about it). Finally, in my heart I want to say I would enjoy a return of formerly beloved characters (like Rodney, Monty, Jenny, or even Donna and Jimmy) I am anxious that the execution of this plan would be disappointing. If executed well though, I would LOVE to see this. Perhaps old characters coming in to mentor the young ones. Like having Lucy come and bond with Zoe over the newspaper, that sort of thing. (Kinda how they had Pamela return to help Connie with Jules).

Anyway, loved this post! keep it up!

Honestly, I’m kinda over the Parkers I liked them, but they were the main AiO family for an abnormally long time with little progression. Especially for Mathew who has been more or less the same since album 51. I don’t think it was bad that he didn’t have a character arc, but I do think we’ll be able to get new stories we couldn’t if we kept the Parkers.

Plus I’m a huge fan of the Calhouns and am looking forward to even more family episodes with them.

    *ALBUM 77 SPOILERS BELOW*

I was really pleased with what we got on the Jillian and Connie front, it was exactly the kind of thing I was hoping for! Also it’s looking really good on the wrapping up story arcs front as well!

I agree completely! Who’s your favorite character from the Calhoun family? Mine is probably Trey, not especially from the episodes, but from Clubhouse Magazine.

Do you guys remember when Kathy Buchanan said that Connie would only get married if cats became extinct?

That, and the Bulls have to win a super bowl.

Trey too, but more from the episode side. I keep getting the magazines and seeing his column and thinking I should read it but most of the time I don’t.

it’s a close pick though depending on the day I might be swayed towards someone else in the family.
