The second part of Era Two finds Odyssey rebounding from its most unique period. This is evidenced by the opening album title, “Back on the Air.” Jason and Jack are established characters, dealing with problems in a very Whit-like way, but not for long. The aforementioned album is the transition into a new period of Odyssey, the Paul Herlinger Period. Fans’ reception to his introduction in Album 27 is immensely positive, and the team at AIO has found their next Whit. The next few albums move along steadily, establishing his newfound presence. We also receive a new set of child characters, including Jared, Dwyane, Julie, and Mandy. With the exception of the last one, their prominence will fade quickly. Relationships develop as well, as Eugene finally secures his engagement to Katrina. With all of these changes, it’s important to notice one unique absence, that of a central family. The Barclays depart in Album 26, and the members only have short features twice thereafter. This is the most stark contrast between this and every other era of Adventures in Odyssey.
